In the photo below on the left, you can see a thick paperboard in red; it’s a seating chart I made. I drew the shape of Taiwan, and I found 11 cities with famous travel locations as the position of the tables. (To show some beauty of Taiwan!) However, I was worried that the guests would have trouble to find their seats, because the shape of the venue is rectangular and we couldn’t put the tables in the same way as I put the photos on the chart.
Alien said that there is no need to worry about that. People can find their seats, because there are names on every table. Besides, people like to talk about where they sit and who they sit with… In the end, the guests seemed to find their seat easily.
I wrote every name of the guests on the board, and I had to be very careful about it. Otherwise, I would have to erase the mistake with paint, wait for it to dry and then rewrite it again! I was quite upset when he told me that there were people who couldn’t make it or we needed to add more names just a week before the wedding… I told him to write it himself with a bitchy face! He said sorry many times for his relatives with a pitiful expression. Again, I caved in! It wasn’t his fault anyway!
On the right side of the photo, I made those little hearts with the paper clay and painted them with Acrylic (I used Patafix to stick on the wall) You will see more in another picture later.
I brought those heart shape boxes from Taiwan. There were given from a shop for free. Those boxes were meant for the candies that we give away in the end of the wedding dinner in Taiwan, but you can only put two or three candies in one and we have more candy than the boxes. Obviously, that’s not ideal and I didn’t like that limitation (You can’t ask the guest to take just one box, can you?! That’s just rude). Therefore, I used them for the wedding in France (For dragée), and you can probably tell by now that the red heart is our theme (It’s cliché, I know)!
French people give away dragée (Les dragée are chocolate) as a small gift in weddings, and it’s their tradition (They don’t eat dragée in daily life besides weddings and baptisms)!
On the top left corner of the photo, you can see my mother, his parents and we were preparing the boxes all together as team mates! That was quite nice!
In the upper left – Alien on the ladder, and my mother was holding it to avoid slipping.
Those strings of hearts you see on the wall were also part of the handcraft work I did. It’s four metres long with 20 little hearts on each string and there are 90 of them in total. It was an easy work, and all you need is time and patient. I often watched TV shows while I strung them together, so it wasn’t too bad.
In the lower left-hand corner, a table for the gifts from the guests and our pre-wedding photo album. There were also small cards for guests to write some sweet or drunken notes. In the right-hand corner, that’s how it looked like before putting the tables (We spent two afternoons to decorate the venue without a break and there was an accident because of the damn ladder! I will write about it later).
The hearts you see on the wall are made from paper clay, as I wrote earlier.
The complete decoration of the venue (On Sat.)!
We ordered the flowers from the florist and asked her to tie them unevenly in length, and then I put the flowers in the vases myself.
